This study is about the preliminary assessment of the perceived impact of Business ProcessrnReengineering implementation on the human resource dimensions in selected public institutions.rnIt is a survey research. The target population of the study was the employees of the selectedrninstitutions, namely Ministry of Capacity Building (MOCB) Ministry of Education (MOE),rnMinistry of Trade and Industry (MOTI) and Ethiopian Civil Service College (ECSC). A samplernsize of 70 out of 700 employees was taken. The relevant data was collected through surveyrnquestionnaire and random sampling technique was employed when distributing the surveyrnquestionnaires.rnOut of the 70 questionnaires distributed to the randomly selected employees, 55 were properlyrncompleted and returned. This represents a response rate of approximately 78.6% from therndistributed questionnaires. The data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics and inferencesrnwere made accordingly.rnMajor findings revealed that the impact of BPR implementation in the selected organizationsrnwas negative in most core human resource dimensions (i.e. reward, promotion, work life, etc,),rnexcept empowerment and career development. Some recommendations that might enable BPR tornbe a reliable vehicle in the process of achieving effectiveness and efficiency in public institutionsrnin the long run are presented.
