An inrnvitro antimnlarial test of the crude extract gave anrnIC 50 of 50 ug ml- 1.rnArtemotin and a sesquiterpene lactone were isolatedrnfrom the aerial parts of the plant , 1rtemetinrnwas identified by its melting point -> nd spectral datarnMS , IR , NMR and 13C-NMR. IR , ^HNME , 13C-NMR and chemicalrnstudies vifiro carried out to elucidate the structurernof the* sesquiterpene. Vulgarin , a Compound thatrnwas previously isolated from the same plant was analyzedrn1 13 by two dimensional H and C- NMR including COLOG specsrntroscopic techniques.
