An Investigation Of Placement Service Activities For Prospective And Assigned Technical And Vocational Education Training (tvet) Students In Addis Ababa
The purpose of the study was to investigate the student placement service activities forrnprospective and assigned TVE r student in Jive selected Addis Ababa GovernmentrnTVET institutions. The major sources of data collection for the study were 232rntraillees, 81 teachers amI 9 vocational coullselors. Moreover officials who work in thernregional educatioll bureau were the source of data collection. Tlte design of the studyrnwas quantitative lind the descriptive survey method was used. After the data wererncollected through instruments responses were categorized and frequencies wererntabulated. The results of the study gellerally revealed that: (a) there is a critical needrnfor vocational guidance service hefore placement. (b) The number of school counselorsrnwas very low alld the vocational guidance services were found inadequate. (c) Manyrntraillees had low interest towards TVET programs awl their field of study. (d) Thernmajor criterion used to determine the Ilumber of new trainees is based on the intakerncapacity of TVET institulions and (e) the availability of resources like raw materials,rnshops and laboratories were not adequate fol' the assigned students
