The purpose of this study was to assess the implementation of continuous assessment in Bilo and Homi Secondary Schools, thereby analysing the practice and challenges. To this end, descriptive survey design was employed, quantitative and qualitative methods were used. Data were gathered from both primary and secondary sources. The primary sources were Woreda education office, principals, supervisors, teachers and students. The secondary sources were relevant policy documents and school reports. To select the participant of study, simple rondom sampling techniques were employed to select students and teachers. Availablity sampling was used to select principals’ supervisors and Woreda educational office. The data analysis led to the following major findings: it was found out that examinations were the most frequently used form of assessment. A number of students even about 80 students were accommodated in a single classroom tha mae un manageable class size, lack of training of teachers and overloaded with work as well as students’ poor preparation for the proper implementation of continuous assessment. Based on the major findings and conclusion drawn, certain feasible recommendations were made. Some of these were : training in the implementation of continuous assessment was needed to teachers, students and principals. Continuous supervision and follow up should be carried out by school administrators as well as education officers to ensure that weather all teachers are implementing continuous assessment properly. Educational leaders and school administrators should consider motivational factors like, recognition, award and promotion for teachers those who tried their best for implementing continuous assessment properly.
