The Contribution Of Parent Student Teacher Association In Enhancing The Quality Of Education In Government Secondary Schools In Addis Ababa Bole Sub-city.

The main objective of the study was to investigate the contribution of PSTA in enhancing the quality of education in government secondary schools in Bole Sub-city. For this purpose the researcher raised the following key research questions: What are the roles played by the PSTA? What are the factors adversely affecting the contribution of PSTA? To what extent do school administrators support the activities of PSTA? And how do you explain the follow up and support of educational offices to the PSTA‟s efforts? The study employed descriptive and explanatory research design method. In this study 370 sample participants from 5430 study population were selected using simple random sampling and census method. More specifically, the participants of the study were 4 Bole Sub-city Education Office supervisors, 20 directors, 28 PSTA committee members, 122 teachers and 196 students. Out of the total 370 respondents 345(93.24%) were properly responded. The findings of the study indicated the PSTA committees were established according to the rules and guideline of PSTA manual; know their duties and responsibilities; and their participation in preparing the schools‟ strategic and annual plan is moderate. However, in general the role played by the PSTA in enhancing the quality of education in the Sub-city is low. This was due to lack of capacity on the part of the PSTA members and the low support given to the PSTA from school administrators, Bole Sub-city Education Office and Addis Ababa City Administration Education Bureau. The researcher suggested that all the concerned body should support and follow up the effort of PSTA to enhance the quality education in the Sub-city
