Background: The job satisfaction of Nurses & other health care providers in emergencyrndepartment (ED) or other departments is one of the most important components of the healthrncare delivery system. Job satisfaction among healthcare professionals is increasingly beingrnrecognized as a measure that should be included in quality improvement programs.rnObjectives: The general objective of this study is to assess attitude and factors affecting jobrnsatisfaction among nurses working in emergency room of AaBET and Alert hospitals, AddisrnAbabarnMethods: A cross sectional quantitative descriptive study was employed among 135rnprofessional nurses working at ED at the two public hospitals in Addis Ababa. The sample sizernwas 84, 51 of AaBET, ALERT hospitals respectively through December 2016 to June 2017. Therndata was collected and processed by using SPSS Version 21 software.rnResult: the study revealed that 25.19 % satisfied and 74.81% dissatisfied on their incomernrelated issues, 78.52 % satisfied, and 21.48 % dissatisfied on their working environment relatedrnissues and 67.41% and 32.59 % dissatisfied on administrative matters in their hospitals. On thernother hand out of 135 participants, 90 (66.67%) of them dissatisfied and 45 (33.33%) participantsrnsatisfied on their job because of different causes.rnDiscussion: Satisfaction and/or dissatisfaction of ED nurses on the bases of income, workingrnenvironment and administrative issues with their causes are the center of this research. And itrntried to find out measures to be taken as mentioned by participants as a result of their jobrndissatisfaction.rnConclusion: In conclusion, the study revealed that Income, working environment andrnadministrative related issues are the three factors that determined job satisfaction and/orrndissatisfaction of ED nurses in the two public hospitals in Addis Ababa. The results of thisrnresearch show that these three aspects have made the nurses to take measures that may affectrntheir lives as well as the health institutions condition.rnKey words: Hospital, Nurse& job satisfaction.
