The purpose of this s tudy was to investigate re lationsh ip between L2rnlea rning achievement a nd the vocabula ry learning strategies. To this end,rnfifteen high and fifteen low ach ievers of grade 10 students were selected inrnNew Era Public School based on their firsl semester performance.rnA questionnaire was designed to gather dala 0 ,1 their vocabulary learningrnstrategies. Interviews were a lso cond ucted. -T-les t and dcscripliv(' -sl-atisticsrnwere u sed to analyze the data. Based on the data, it was found out thatrnthe re was no sirn ifi cant difference betw( cn high und low achievers in usernvocabulary learning strategies. Only s li gh t diffcrenccs were observed inrnfrequency u se of the strategies; high achievers tend to use vocabularyrnlearning strategies more often than low achievcrs. In planning and memoryrns trategies both groups seem u se the strategies s imilarly.rnBased on these findings conclusion and recommendations were forwarded ,rnwith reference to the theoretical aspects in the lite ra ture.
