The study focused on the effect of training and development on employees’ performance at thernMinistry of Public Service and Human Resource Development. The overall objective of the studyrnis to determine the effect of training and development on employees’ performance. The studyrnadopted mixed approach and used both primary and secondary data sources. The primary datarncollected from MOPSHRD through self administered questionnaire for 156 selected experts andrnmiddle level managers through simple random sampling technique and semi- structuredrninterview question employed for human resource director and training coordinator throughrninterview. The collected data were analyzed by using statistical tools (SPSS-Version 21). Bothrndescriptive and inferential statistics were used for the data analysis. The descriptive statisticsrnsuch as frequency, percent, mean and standard deviation were used for describing therndemographic characteristics of respondents and the dependent and independent variables. Therninferential statistics like Pearson correlation coefficient(r) and simple linear regression werernused to determine if there is relationship existed between independent and dependent variablesrn(training development and employees’ performance. The findings indicated that training andrndevelopment were positively correlated and claimed statistically significant relationship withrnemployees’ performance. The study concluded that training and development have positive effectrnon employees’ performance. The findings of the study indicated that there was no sounding andrneffective training and development practices of the study’ consequently the result disclosed therngiven training and development processes have been unsystematic. Hence, the researcherrnrecommended that the top Management and other training coordinators should apply systematicrnand authentic training and development practices. Generally, the study recommended thatrntraining and development have to be strategic and systematic in order to achieve organizationsrndesire and objective
