Ethiopia, the second largest populous country in the near future, where the rate ofrnpopulation growth is still among the highest, and measures taken to control thernrapid growth of population and thereby the practice of modern contraceptive use isrnbeing at its lowest stage than other countries, challenges the pace of socia economicrndevelopment and the wellbeing ness of the countries population.rnThe study was ca.rried out among one of the newly emerging urban centre, Assosa,rnBenishangul Gumuz region. The development of the city was highly associated withrnmigrants and businessmen of individuals coming from the surrounding and otherrnurban centres of Ethiopia. The decentralization system of the e;risting potiticalrnregime plays a profound role to the current development of the town. And a numberrnof civil servants andjob seekers had been residing in the town.rnAccording to CSA report more than 75 Percent of people living in the town werernmigrants of other places with diversified demographic, socia cultural economicrncharacteristics/backgrounds.rnFor the study 600 samples of individual who are currently married women aged 15-rn49 taken to investigate factors associated with the practice of contraceptive use. Ofrnwhich 60 percent of married women were currently using contraceptives, while thernremaining ones were not using any methods due to several factors including breastrnfeeding, in fecundity and health related problems particularly fear of side effectsrnand so forth.rnDuring the data analysis different demographic socia economic and culturaljactorsrnwere reported as the major inhabiting factors of contraceptive practice for users,rnincluding lack of knowledge, husband disapproval, opposed to FP, religionrnprohibitions, etc.Logistic regression, which helps to predict the presence or absence of arncharacteristics or outcomes, based on the value of a set of predictor variables that isrnmore suited to model where the dependent or response variables is dichotomous,rnhad been applied to major factors/predicting variables of the study population.rnFamily planning programs ,which has been targeting to increase the prevalence ofrncontraceptive use should focusing not only repeating similar kinds of programrnexecution rather the existing specific context of the area should be taken in tornaccount and studied. Hence to expand the program activities the existing femaleorientedfamilyrnprograms should incorporate the involvement/participation of malernas well. The finding indicates that thee is urgency for an organized and integratedrnFP information, education and communication programs and strategies aiming atrnencouraging husband-wife FP communication, changing husband's attitude andrntheir active involvement in the program.
