Readability refers to the process of matching the reader and the text. Research into readabilityrnwas developed from the 1920s up to the middle of the 1990s. Research into readability focused onrnthe development of practical methods for matching reading materials to the reading abilities ofrntargeted readers.rnIn recent years, much attention has been given to the readability and complexity of texts.rnResearch on readability can be measured by using readability formulas as well as with the help ofrnelements of readability, i.e., content, writing style, design and organization. So, this study on thernreadability problem of selected government public relations magazines is focused only onrnAmharic magazines. And it was undertaken in sixteen selected Federal GovernmentrnOrganizations. The data collection technique of this study was focused group discussions and IndepthrnInterviews. Different focused groups, i.e. communicators, readers, designers and owners ofrnprinting enterprises, were selected to make this study more reliable.rnWith respect to the reading behavior of target audiences, the study revealed that majority of thernrespondents were not so much satisfied by the content, style, design and organization of thernmagazines.
