The aim of this study was to evaluate the practice of beat reporting in EBC/ETV Amharic newsrnservice. For the study, descriptive type of research design was used. Data was collected using inrndepth interview, focused group discussion and document analysis; and the collected data wasrnanalyzed qualitatively. Based on the analysis, the findings of the study showed that practicingrnspecialized/beat reporting has good ground in documents but not found practically, the newsrnrooms operate based on similarly organized themes where reports chose their areas of interest.rnFrom the findings it can be concluded that noactual beat reporting was found practically exceptrnin documents. Based on the conclusions of the study it was forwarded that the EBC reporters,rnhigher officials, the government and other media owners should work on specialized/beatrnreporting in order to satisfy the needs of their audiences.
