This study gives a description and analys is of the Case system of the Baskettornlangu age. The realization and di stri bution of va rious Case types is investigated.rnAssumptions in the Gove rnment and Bi nding theory as introduced byrnChomsky (198 1) and theoreti cal developments in later years have been used tornanalyse the data. Structures like the pass ive and infinitival constru ctions which arernclaimed to be explained by Case theory are also discussed.rnMoreover, it will be seen that, from the theoretical point of view adopted inrnth is th esis, the distinction between definit e and indefinite NPs in Case assignmentrnand the distinction between full and clitic personal pronouns is notable.
