Effective logistics chain management has become a potentially valuable way of securingrncompetitive advantage through enhancing operational and improving organizationalrnperformances since competition is so high and growing from time to time. This paper byrnconsidering this fact and central role of transportation at every logistics activity, performed thernstudy by identifying roles of transportation (connecting, storage and creating time and placernutility) and logistics performance dimensions (logistics differentiation, effectiveness andrnefficiency) in order to see the relationship between transportation and logistics chainrnperformance. The data to conduct the study was collected from 82 staff of the company usingrnquestionnaire. the practice of transportation was analyzed using descriptive statistics like meanrnand standard deviation as per the result weakness observed in areas of timely reply to specialrnenquiry, flexibility and some human and non human factors affecting performance ofrntransportation is identified. The relationships proposed in the framework were tested usingrnPearson correlation, and the causal relations were analyzed using regression analysis. From thernresult of the analysis it is concluded that there is strong relationship between role ofrntransportation and Logistics chain performance and between transportation practice andrnlogistics chain performance also the relationship between the roles of transportation andrnlogistics performance dimension is strong. Hence, it is to the benefit of the company to give duernemphasis to improving transportation service in order to benefit from better logisticsrnperformancernKey words: Logistics chain, Transportation, Role
