This research explores the implementation of community policing program in the case ofrnBole sub city. In Ethiopia community policing is implemented by both the federal andrnstate governments in their respective police institutions in order to change the veryrnnature of police practice. This research involved 65 officers and 2 key informantrninterviews .Questionnaire were distributed to the sample respondentâ€™s officers of the subrncity. Furthermore different related documents like report of Addis Ababa policerncommission and Bole sub city community policing division report were used to collectrnrelevant data. Based on collected data, the researcher identified prospects of thernapproach as well as the challenges encountered through the implementation. Thus, thernstudy revealed Bole sub city has benefited from the implementation in areas of crimernprevention and better participation of the community. And the research also reveledrnmajor challenges in implementing community policing as lack of awareness and lack ofrntraining on the concept of community policing, absence of incentives schemes andrnemployees low attitude towards community policing, the middle management reluctancernto train and equip their subordinates, lack of expertise on the side of experts who followrnup the implementation. Based on these results, recommendations are proposed: trainingrnboth the employees and the middle management, increasing media role in creatingrnawareness of the public about community policing and increasing opportunity in workingrntogether with the community in local development schemes
