The Challenges And Prospects Of Good Governance The Case Of Addis Ababa University College Of Business And Economics Administrative Staff

The purpose of this study was to assess the challenges and prospects of goodrngovernance in Addis Ababa University, College of Business and Economics.rnDescriptive survey based on cross sectional study was used to attain the objective ofrnthe research. Questionnaires, interview and document review techniques werernemployed as data gathering instruments. The collected data were analyzed usingrndescriptive statistics such as percentage and table. The analysis has been carried outrnbased on the six core elements of good governance namely: accountability,rntransparency, equity and equality, effectiveness and efficiency, rule of the law andrnparticipation different achievements and failures were observed. Frameworks andrnmechanisms for good governance implementation are somehow found ready in thernCollege. However, limitations are found in engaging the staff in full scalernparticipation, in capacitating employees, in accountability and transparency, in fairlyrnproviding benefits for employees and in freedom of commenting higher managers.rnSo, based on the findings hosting panel discussions, putting suggestion boxes,rnassessing employees’ job satisfaction level, facilitating capacity building workshops,rnpromoting employees based on their current performance and educational status andrndesigning a policy to struggle against corruption are some the recommended issuesrnfor the limitations in order to run forward to achieve good governance practices in thernCollege.
