The general objective of this study has been to investigate the relationshiprnbetween the population pressure and agriculture in Misha woreda, Hadiya Zone,rnSNNP. Specially, this study was concerned with the examination of the impact ofrngraving population on agriculture in view of Malthus, Neo-Malthusians andrnBoserupian theories. Some demographic, socio-economic and cultural aspectsrnwhich determine agricultural activities were examined in the study. Qualitativernand quantitative approaches for data analysis were used based on descriptivernmethod to identify the population pressure that exerted on agricultural activitiesrnin the household level. Although the area is in high potential cereal zone, thernanalysis of the available data has seemingly revealed that the poor resourcernbase as compared to the requirement of the present human and livestockrnpopulation that characterize the l'itudy area. Based on the. sample survey, thernaverage land holding size is less than one hectare per households. The landrnfragmentation is also main problem in the area, it is highly fragmented amongrnthe households. The fact that farming tools and production techniques arerntraditional and lack of access to farming technology in the area. The applicationrnof farm inputs is very low with an average oxen possession of a half perrnhouseholds. Fertilizer application is too very low and limited the average isrnnearly one quintal per household and all these aspects taken together accountsrnfor the low agricultural production in the area.rnKey Words: Impact, Population, Pressure, Agriculture
