The purpose of this study was to identify the relativerneffectiveness of high school grade point average (HSGPA),rnDifferential Aptitude test (Verbal & Numerical section), andrnEthiopian School Leaving Certificate Exarnination(ESLCE) resultsrnas predictors of academic success in the Junior College ofrnCommerce. The sample to which the. findings of the study referredrnwere 247 students "Tho were adlni tted to the Junior Collegernof Commerce in the Academic year 1990/91. Using m~tiplerncorrelation and regression analyses, the effectiveness of eachrnindependent variable was identified. It revealed that bothrnHSGPA and DAT test scores significantly predicted studentsrnacademic performance in the college. However, the predictivernability of the DAT test scores varied within different fieldsrnof studies.
