The purpose of this study was to investigate the practice and challenges of teaching learningrnprocess of physical education in Injibara collage. To conduct the study, descriptive survey researchrnmethod was employed. The needed data was obtained by means of questionnaires distributed to 4rncollege physical education teachers and 44 physical education department students, interviewrnwhich was designed for collage management bodies and finally observation was used. The datarnwas analyzed using both quantitatively and qualitatively. Accordingly the research revealed thernfollowing results. These were first of all physical education is given as a major field of study inrnregular, evening and summer programs and students do not take pre- examination before joiningrnthe department. In addition to this most students joined the department by their own interest. It wasrnalso understood that there is shortage of adequate number of teachers, reference books in thernlibrary and facilities for some practical activities. it had also been revealed that there is inrnavailability of play grounds such as hand ball and football playing grounds, gymnasiums andrntennis courts to exercise practical activities. Therefore it can be concluded that Physical educationrnas a field of study was opened in the college and it is understood that different efforts are made byrnteachers and students as well as the college administration to realize the existence of good teachingrnlearning process. But apart from those efforts there are different challenges the department isrnfacing with regard to delivering quality PE because of shortage of teachers, reference books,rnequipment and facilities.
