Athletics is a medium through which an all rounded development of personality can bernpromoted. Running, jumping and throwing are the most elements and natural physical activity ofrnall the people of the world and of all society since the beginning of time. Track and field hasrnbecome an independent sport with its own events, special techniques and tactics of movement,rncoaching methods and low of competitions. The study is about the role schools for developmentrnof track and field athletics in some selected Addis Ababa city administration high schools. Thisrnresearch will explore the role of schools for the development of athletics events in order to offerrnathletes from track and field and the method employed students, physical education teachersrnand Addis Ababa athletics federation experts which works with school track and field athletesrnthose were selected by using random selected sampling.rnThe research involves three sub-cities within ten sub-cities in Addis Ababa city administration.rnFrom each sub-city three high schools were selected and totally168 students were selectedrnrandomly from nine high schools, teacherâ€™s federation experts were selected. This research usedrnboth qualitative and quantitative research approach. Therefore, the data obtained throughrnquestionnaire was analyzed quantitatively. For quantitative analysis percentage and numberrnwere employed. The data was collected through interview and observations were analyzedrnqualitatively to substantiate the quantitative analysis.rnHence, Young athlete preparation is one of the teacher's main objectives. The physicalrneducation teacher can accomplish this by establishing harmony in the youngster's physical,rntechnical, and strategic preparation. The teacher must establish such a concord for psychologicalrnpreparation, meaning sound relationships, friendships, and common goals among schoolrnteammates
