Space frame structures are nowadays widely used in large span and short spanrnstructures. The case of assembly and simplicity has made such structures popularrnparticularly in public buildings, including airports. Addis Ababa International AirportrnEthiopia Passengers Terminal is one of such building in Ethiopia. Despite theirrnsimplicity however, space frame structure have been noted to exhibit failure.rnSome of the failure of space frame traced back to inaccuracy in assembling,rndesign and material property.rnThis thesis is concerned with the deflection analysis of Addis Ababa InternationalrnAirport Ethiopia Passengers Terminal. The method of assembly or erection ofrnAAIAEPT depends on space frame behavior of load transmission and constructionrndetails. Scale of the structure, method of jointing, strength and rigidity are thernobjective function of deflection problems. The module dimension, depth andrnjointing system have been taken as design variables. Laboratorial research is notrnperformed on the material property of member.rnDeflection analysis has been carried out on geometrical and material non-linearity.rnFactors influence load carrying capacity, data for analysis and confirmation ofrntheoretical values have been calculated. Using this data redesigning has beenrnmade. The relationships between temperature and deflection are presentedrngraphically to show the performance of the structure.rnThe analysis results are found to be in agreement with some of the approximaternanalysis models except joint rigidity and temperature. The carrying capacity ofrnAAIAEPT space frame is on the safe or conservative side.rnFinally, propose possible procedures that will help to stop further deformation andrnprovide recommendation on certain precaution to be taken during space framerndesign and construction. Provide proposals as curative measures to be takenrnbased on the findings.
