Marital dissolution has become an important subject of demographic, sociological,rnpsychological and economic research in Ethiopia. There is very little research on divorcernrelated problems of women in Ethiopia. The objective of this study is to examine thernmajor factors contributing to marital dissolution of women in Ethiopia. The study isrnbased on data from the 2005 EDHS with 7,558 ever married women. Binary logisticrnregression and descriptive statistical measures are used for the analysis. The result ofrnbinary logistic regression analysis revealed that age of woman, place of residence,rnreligion of a woman, education level of a woman and number of living children in thernhousehold were the important variables that explain the marital dissolution due to divorcernin the Ethiopian context. Women with lower level of education, women in the age grouprnbelow eighteen years and women with no child experienced the highest rate of divorce
