This study attempts to investigate the state of services provIsion tornpeople with disabilities (PwDs) in Garno Gofa Zone through identifyingrnservices rendered, the relevance of services, its sustainability andrnchallenges in delivering services. The researcher applied qualitativernmethod of study to identify the state of service for PwDs. The study areasrninclude rehabilitation center, special school and school with specialrnclasses that directly involved in PwDs issues. The data was collected inrnusing the interview as main instruments. In addition focus grouprndiscussion and observation instruments were used to support the datarnobtained through interview. People who participated in providingrninformation for the study were PwDs, parents of PwDs, field workers,rncoordinators, directors and teachers.rnAs the findings revealed the main services delivered were medical, educational,rnsocial, economic and vocational rehabilitation. The services advantaged PwDs tornget educational and employment opportunity, minimizing disabling conditions,rnimproving their health, livelihood and social interaction.rnThe established rehabilitation center and special school, special classes openedrnin different primary schools, the disseminated knowledge and skills, andrntrained man power in the community were good bases for sustainability ofrnservices to PwDs in the zone.rnThe provision of services to PwDs in Garno Gofa zone brought effective changesrnon the life of PwDs. But its coverage was only for PwDs in small areas of thernzone from large number of PwDs in each kebeles. There are also differentrnchallenges on the provision of services. There fore it needs strengthening thernimplementation of already involved organizations and participation of others.
