This study argues in favor of the importance of co-op based micro andrnsmall enterprises in creating a strong bond between Technical andrnVocational Training programs and self employment on co-op based jobrnplacements. It investigates the state of co-op based micro and smallrnenterprise program and its effectiveness in actual implementations. Thernstudy focuses on Butajera WET training system and explores how makingrnits contribution in providing trainees with the necessary skills demandedrnby the labor market. Observation made in the preliminary studiesrnconducted by the researcher revealed that there is big gap between whatrnwas intended as a purpose for training program to accomplish and whatrnactually is being done practically for informal micro and small enterprisernthat are providing major employment opportunity to the trainees. Inrnaddition to financial problems, lack of market linkage and Lack ofrnLeadership skill are some of the major problems of co-op based jobrnplacement that the researcher observed in the study. These and otherrnrelated problems observed in the implementation of co-op based micro andrnsmall enterprise program in Butajera town has therefore, attracted thernattention of the researcher, initiating this case study with a particularrnfocus on the graduates of Butajera TVET institution who organized inrndifferent co-op based job placements. The researcher has conducted thisrnstudy with a major objective of identifying the major problems prevailing inrnthe activities of co-op based job placement at present, taking the case ofrnButajera TVET graduates Organized in different co-op based jobrnplacements. Hence a descriptive survey method of study was employed inrnidentifying the major problems encountered in different activities of co-oprnbased job placement to which graduates of Butajera TVET were organized.rnThe result of the study depicted that the preparedness of trainees in therntechnical and managerial skill for self employment that allow them tornmanage their own co-op based enterprises are found to be low. Hence, thernresearcher has concluded that graduates of Butajera TVET are enteringrnthe labour market ill prepared and have no vision of Â«one day I will be myrnown boss and I will manage my own business)). It is thereforernrecommended that depending on TVET objectives and strategies, ButajerarnTVET Institution should focus on self-employment in co-op based MSEs,rnwhich required preparing of trainees for starting their own business. Thusrnthe findings of this study may trickle the thinking of the decision makers atrneach level and can thus improve the life of operators of co-op based jobrnplacements.
