The purpose of this study was to examme thernrelationship of the p resence of children to the maritalrnsatisfaction of parents in Addis Ababa. To do this, arnsample of 200 married individuals (l00 males andrn100 females) were selected using purposive andrnrandom sampling techniques. Snyder's maritalrnsatisfaction scale (Snyder, 1997) was used to collectrnthe data. Descriptive statistics, a univarite analysis ofrnvariance and post hoc comparison were employed tornanalyze the data. The findings of the analysisrnindicated that children have an effect on maritalrnsatisfaction of their parents. Regarding otherrndemographic variables studied sex of parents, age atrnmarriage and family income were found to bernsignificant predictors of marital satisfaction whilerneducational status was found to be not related tornmarital satisfaction. Some implications andrnsuggestions of the findings are discussed.
