The major purpose of this comparative case study was to identify therndifference and similarity between and among government and privaternTechnical and Vocational Educational Education and Training colleges differrnform one another in relation to their objectives, means of obtaining andrnutilization of resources (Human, financial and materia/), practice ofrnvocational guidance and student cases (selection, placement and theirrncapacity in the real world of work). To achieve this objective, data wererncollected from administrators, vocational guidance and counselors, teachers,rnstudents as well as employing agencies through observation, informalrndiscussion, in-depth interview and document analysis. Administrators andrnvocational guidance and counselors were selected to be the researchrnparticipants through availability sampling technique where as the otherrnrespondents were purposefully selected and finally the employing agenciesrnwere selected upon the suggestion of the vocational gUidance and counselors.rnTwenty four participants were interviewed using semi-structured interviewrnquestions. The data gathered were presented in a narrative and vignetternforms based on the participants' view points and personal understanding ofrnthe researcher.rnThe finding revealed the existence of difference in the physicol setting of therncolleges; the conformity of colleges' objectives with the national technical andrnvocational education and training objective; the existence of observablernknowledge gap among teachers about the objective; the existence ofrnproblem of human financial and material resources; problems related tornvocational guidance and student selection as well as placement.rnThus, the researcher recommended the establishment of Board of VocationalrnGuidance and Counselors, the need for providing training to the teachmgrnstaff about the objective of TVET; the need to encourage stake-holders activernparticipation in the design of TVET curriculum and the importance ofrnadhering to occupational standards set so as to ensure the provision of goodrnquality vocational education and training.
