The study aimed at assessing the practices in the managemen£ of farmers'rntraining centers in Abichu Gnaa woreda, North Shoa zone, Oromia region. In thernstudy a descriptive survey method was used. Seven (36.84 percent) farmers'rntraining cente rs were selected by random sampling m e thod. From the seven (7)rnfarmers training centers 43 (42 d evelopment agents and one supervisor) or 38rnmales and 5 females', 14 agricultural experts (12 male and 2 f e male) bothrnre spondents were selected by availability sample technique. In addition, 35 malerntrainees and 6 female trainees were included using s imple random samplingrntechnique to supplement the data gained from the practitioners. Questionnaires,rninterviews and observation w e re used to gather data and enrich the study. Da tarnanalysis was made by using perce ntile, m e an, standard deviation and chisquare.rnThe findings revealed hindrances related to trainees, trainers and thernmanagerial practices of farmers training centers. The respondents, none the less,rnlisted a number of constraints like the inadequacy of resource (finance, humanrnand materials) in the centers were far be low what they should be, that is, lack ofrnadequate budget allocation, inadequate training m aterials, lack of communityrnawareness, absence of income g e n e ration from the land they owned, lack ofrntraining way of adult teaching (andragogy), la ck of s equence of modules content,rnla ck of knowledge and skill in planning, organizing, implementation andrnevaluation were some of the hindrances revealed in the study. Thus, thesernproblems made farme rs training centers to be incapable of mee ting the ir purposesrnand the inte re s ts of disadvantage adults' and youths. The refore, it wasrnre commen d ed that the Oromia agricultural Bureau, zone and woreda agriculturernoffice and w oreda administration have to make maximum possible efforts tornmobilize all resources and agricultural institutions unde r them to reverse therncu rrent situation of farmers training centers.
