ABSTRACTThe issue of space integration in hospital planning is onethat should be considered to be of great importance.The intent of this thesis is to underline the possibility ofusing architecture to integrate spaces in hospital design. TheNational Tuberculosis and Leprosy Training Center, Saye VillageZaria (N.T.B.L.T.C)# is used as a case study to demonstrate suchpossibilities.In doing this, an awareness of the type of Tuberculosis andLeprosy hospitals that are available in Nigeria, will be created.An attempt will be made in the redevelopment process to create astandard integration of space as a basis for hospital planning thatwill be effective for N.T.B.L.T.C; and its probable intendedstructures.The N.T.B.L.T.C is presently undergoing some construction tomeet the increasing demands of the centre that have arisen due tothe gradual dilapidation of its structural facilities. It is basedon this that a redevelopment process is being proposed to helpachieve this goal thereby creating a well defined environment thatwill have a good order of space, as well as standard requirements,in terms of high temperature and ventilation, and standard,requirement, form and ventilation.In order to achieve the desired integration of spaces in theproposed design, the following existing tuberculosis and leprosyhospitals will be studied;viii
