Clark University Presidential Scholarship 2027 in the USA: Full Tuition, Room and Board for First-Year International Students
Securing a Fully Funded Scholarship is only the first step. Many Nigerian students are now utilizing No-Cosigner Student Loans through providers like MPOWER Financing and Prodigy Finance to cover living expenses in the USA, Canada, and the UK.
If you are applying to Ivy League or Russell Group Universities, look for programs offering Graduate Assistantships. Many top-tier universities are currently granting GRE and GMAT Waivers for African applicants with strong professional backgrounds or high GPAs from recognized institutions.
For Canada and the US, a WES Course-by-Course Evaluation is often mandatory. Additionally, if your degree was taught in English, you may qualify for an IELTS/TOEFL Waiver, saving you significant costs during the Graduate Admissions process.
Applications are now open for the Clark University Presidential Scholarship 2027, one of the most generous undergraduate awards in the United States for outstanding international students starting at Clark University in Fall 2027. Clark University, a private research university in Worcester, Massachusetts, awards this highly competitive scholarship to first-year students whose academic record and leadership potential place them at the very top of its applicant pool.
This is a major award, but it is important to be precise about what it covers. It covers full tuition plus on-campus housing and meals for all four years, regardless of a family's financial situation. It does not cover every cost of studying in the United States: Clark University states that Presidential Scholarship recipients are responsible for additional costs totalling approximately $12,000-$15,000 per year. Plan for those costs alongside the award, rather than assuming every expense is paid.
What does the scholarship cover?
The Clark University Presidential Scholarship covers:
- Full tuition for four years of undergraduate study at Clark University
- On-campus housing for four years
- On-campus meals for four years
Clark University awards approximately five Presidential Scholarships each year, and its international admissions page describes the award as going to 3-5 students annually. Finalists are selected from admitted students and invited to interview for the scholarship. The award recognises outstanding academic achievement and leadership potential, and it is awarded on merit, not on financial need.
Who can apply? Eligibility requirements
To be considered for the Presidential Scholarship, you must:
- Be an international student — Clark University defines this as a student who does not hold United States citizenship and does not hold United States permanent residency
- Be applying for first-year undergraduate study at Clark University for Fall 2027
- Have an outstanding academic record that places you among the top applicants to Clark University
- Demonstrate leadership potential and personal qualities that stand out during your secondary school years
All undergraduate admitted students, regardless of citizenship, are automatically considered for merit scholarships, and Clark University states there is no separate application process for the Presidential Scholarship. That means your admission application is your scholarship application — there is no extra scholarship form to complete.
International applicants are also required to complete the International Student Certification of Finances and Financial Assistance Application Form, which is made available on the applicant status portal after applying to Clark. Clark's admissions process is need-aware, so applicants should read the university's financial information carefully and be ready to show how they will cover costs beyond the scholarship.
English language requirements
If English is not your native language, you must provide official proof of English proficiency. Clark University assesses English proficiency holistically, considering your scores, transcript, essay and letters of recommendation. Its general indicators include:
- IELTS: 6.5 overall, with no sub-score below 6
- TOEFL iBT: 85 overall, with no sub-score below 20
- Duolingo English Test: 120 overall, with no sub-score below 100
- Pearson PTE: 61 overall, with no sub-score below 55
Meeting these indicators does not guarantee admission. SAT or ACT scores are optional for all students at Clark University.
How to apply: step-by-step
There is no separate Presidential Scholarship application. Follow these steps:
1. Apply to Clark University for first-year undergraduate admission for Fall 2027 through the Common Application or the Coalition Application with Scoir. There is no application fee.
2. Submit transcripts covering the last three years of education.
3. Submit two letters of recommendation — one from your school counsellor and one from a teacher, or two academic teachers if your school has no counsellor.
4. Submit proof of English language proficiency if English is not your native language.
5. Complete the International Student Certification of Finances and Financial Assistance Application Form on your applicant status portal after you apply.
6. An interview is optional but strongly encouraged for international students, and it can also be used as a supplementary measure of English proficiency.
7. If you are admitted and selected as a finalist, you will be invited to interview for the Presidential Scholarship.
Application deadline
Apply for Early Decision II or Regular Decision by 15 January 2027 to be considered for Fall 2027 entry. Clark University's Early Decision I and Early Action deadlines were 1 November 2026, so the 15 January 2027 round is the remaining first-year deadline for this cycle. Early Decision II decisions are released in early March, and Regular Decision decisions are released in late March.
Do not wait until the last day: transcripts, recommendations and English test scores all need to arrive in time for your application to be complete.
