This study examines the challenges of Customs on trade facilitation, specifically thernCustoms clearing process in Ethiopia. The study focuses on assessing to identifyrnproblems and the reason behind those problems, which have negative contribution on therntime length of clearing process.rnThe study adopts a mixed method research approach to address the specific objectivesrnthat come out from the review of the existing literature. Particularly, the studyrnparticularly used survey methods, and in-depth interview together with documentaryrnanalysis.rnThe result of this methodology shows that the Customs clearing time taken for urndocument is quite long in Ethiopia, which adversely affects the trade facilitation.rnMoreover; the cause for delays of clearing process has also identified and the reasonsrnbehind these problems are also indicated. The thesis forwards a series of measures takenrnby the authority (ERCA), importers and clearing agents. The measures to be taken by thernauthority, include minimize Customs procedures, recruit additional employees,rnimplement the existing procedures uniformly and avoid corruptions vulnerability. On thernother hand measures to be taken by the importers and agents, building their capacity,rnsubmission of true information regarding to cost and origin of goods, avoid the need ofrntax evasion and unfair advantages and ready to cooperate with the authority.
