Knowledge Attitude And Associated Factors Towards Heart Failure Management Among Nurses Working In Cardiac Unit Of Selected Government Hospitals Addis Ababa Ethiopia 2020.

Pharmacologic, surgical and lifestyle management are the three essential strategies in heartrnfailure management and nurses have a critical input in each of these strategies. The keyrnroles for the nurse in the management of heart failure have largely focused on the followrnup and monitoring and provide education about heart failure for the patient. However,rnthere is often a mismatch between a patent’s understanding of their heart failurernmanagement and the information provided by the health professional so the objectives ofrnthis study was to assess knowledge, attitude and associated factors towards heart failurernmanagement among nurses working in cardiac unit at selected government hospitals inrnAddis Ababa, Ethiopia, 2020. Institution based cross sectional study design was conductedrnamong nurses working in cardiac unit at selected government hospitals of Addis Ababarnfrom March to April 2020. 199 nurses who fulfil the inclusion criteria were recruited fromrnselected governmental hospitals by census method. Descriptive statistics such as mean,rnstandard deviation and percentages are calculated and binary and multivariable logisticrnregressions were computed to evaluate the association. The study findings revealed thatrnnurses had poor knowledge and positive attitude towards management of heart failure.rnThere were a significant association with age, level of education, year of experience andrntraining with nurse’s knowledge towards heart failure management. The deficientrnknowledge would certainly have a negative impact on the quality of their practice, andrnconsequently on patients’ outcomes. They need training and standard tool as a guidelinernfor heart failure management to improve their knowledge.
