Background: Pain in children is not different from that in adults and can lead to similarrndetrimental effects on the body. Poor attitude and lack of knowledge about pain had beenrndemonstrated in which professionals and their pediatric patients respond to the varied dimensionsrnof pain management. The aims of this study were to survey the knowledge and attitudes of TikurrnAnbesa Specialized Hospital Pediatrics Post-Operative Unit and Operating theater professionalsrntowards pediatric pain by develop a valid questioner to assess pain knowledge and attitude.rnObjective: - To assess the knowledge and attitude regarding PPOPM among PACU nurses andrnanesthetists at Tikur Anbesa Specialized Hospital, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.rnMethods: A cross-sectional survey was employed among PACU nurses and Anesthetists using arnvalidated 31-item consisting five likert scales. Results were depicted using means, percentages,rnfigure and tables. Comparisons among groups were performed through Binary and multivariaternlogistic regration, to make a conclusion about the hypothesis with 95% confidence the p-value ofrnthe chi-square should be less than 0.05, which is alpha level associated with a 95%CI.rnResults: - Bivariate and multivariate logistic regration among professionals was performed.rnPACU nurses 21 and anesthetists 46, total of 67 (99.7%) professionals have completed a 31-itemrnquestionnaire evaluating knowledge and attitude about PPOPM. The mean percentage of correctrnanswers for knowledge was 50.7% and 73.1% for attitude. General principles of knowledge andrnattitude items were seventeen and fourteen respectively. Nurses had a mean score of correctrnanswer of 42.9% followed by anesthetists 54.3%.rnConclusion: - In this study which augments the universal concern of inadequate knowledge andrnattitude regarding to pediatric pain management. Thus, the situation demands various educationalrnand quality improvement initiatives that could enhance the professional‘s knowledge in the arearnof pain management.
