The genus vernonia is one of the largest groups in the family Asteraceae and includes more thanrn1000 species distributed widely in tropical and sub tropical regions of Africa, Asia and America.rnVernonia galamensis is a new potential industrial oil seed crop for semiarid areas with very highrncontent of naturally epoxidized vernolic acid (80% of the oil). The epoxy oil of this seed alsorncontains linoleic acid (12% to14%), oleic acid (4% to 6 %), stearic acid (2% to 3%), palmitic acidrn(2% to 3%) and a trace amount of arachidic acid.rnThe dichloromethane and methanol extracts of the seed of vernonia galamensis afforded VG-3 andrnVG-4A respectively. The structural elucidation of these compounds was determined based on IR,rnUV, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and 2D NMR (COSY, HSQC and HMBC) spectra. Moreover, the literaturernvalues of selected 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectra of methyl vernolate are matched with 1H NMRrnand 13C NMR spectra of VG-3 and VG-4A
