Two anthraquinones: physion( 6) and emodin( 7) are isolated from the chloroformrnextract of Senna occidentalis pod. It also afforded one bianthraquinone: 5,7’- biphysionrnand anthraquinone derivative: trihydroxy-methoxy-methylanthraquinone, which arernpartially characterized. Several trace anthraquinones were also isolated. Therncompounds are identified on the basis of their color reactions and spectroscopic data.
