Some of the samples of Ethiopian traditional alcoholic beverages namely ‘tella’, ‘tej’ andrn‘areki’ collected from different parts of Addis Ababa were analyzed for their alcoholrncontents. The alcohol contents of ‘tella’ and ‘tej’ were analyzed by adopting the method ofrndetermination of ethanol level in beer. The alcohol content of ‘areki’ was determined byrnusing an alcoholometer. The average ethanol content (%v/v) of the traditional alcoholicrnbeverage was found to be 6.36, 11.47, and 37.22 for ‘tella’, ‘tej’, and ‘areki’, respectively.
