The disemicarbazone derivative of ninhydrin (NDSC) was synthesized by the 1:2rncondensations between ninhydrin and semicarbazide hydrochloride in ethanolic medium.rnIt was characterized on the basis of mass spectrum, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, IR, UV-vis andrnanalytical data. The Ni (II) complex of NDSC was successfully synthesized in betterrnyield from template procedure. The complex was characterized by analytical,rnconductance, IR, UV-vis and magnetic susceptibility data. The results suggest that therncomplex with the molecular formula [Ni-NDSC(H2O)Cl]Cl has octahedral geometry withrnthe ligand behaving as a neutral ONNO donor.
