Simple ion transfer across the immiscible water/o-nitrotoluene,rnwater/benzonitrile and water/o-dlchlorobenzene interfaces has been studiedrnusing ac and dc cyclic volammetry. The standard Gibbs energies of transferrnfrom water to the organic solvents for several ions have been determ ined. Thernresults are compared with theoretical values calculated using the model of ionicrnsolvation.rnThe transfer across the imm iscible water / nitrobenzene interface ofrntransition metal (Fe, Co, Ni, Cu and Zn) - terpyridine complexes has beenrnstudied using ac and dc cyclic voltammetry, linear sweep voltammetry andrnabsorption spectroscopy. From the voltammetric measurements and convolutionrnintegral analysis , thermodynamic and transport properties have been evaluated.rnThe transfer behaviour of cuprous ion across the water/l ,2-dlchloroethanerninterface facilitated by 2,2' -biquinoline has been studied and the mechanismsrnfor the transfer process are proposed.rnThe structure of the electrical double layer at the water /o-nitrotoluenernand water/a-dichlorobenzene interfaces containing different base electrolytesrnwith different concentrations has been studied by impedance measurements. Therncapacitance values obtained from experiments have been compared with thernvalues calculated from the Gouy- Chapman theory. AnalysiS of the results hasrnIndicated the absence of speCific adsorption at the water /0- nltrotoluenernin terf ace.
