A tetradentate Schiff base ligand was formed by the 1:2 molarrncondensation of Ethylenediamine and Ninhydrin and Characterized byrnelemental analysis, IR and UV-Vis. Spectra. Its Ni(II) complex wasrnsynthesized and characterized by analytical studies, molar conductivity, rnmagnetic susceptibility, IR and UV-Vis. Spectra. The metal to ligandrnratio is 1:1 and the metal complex is a non-electrolyte. Based on thernspectral data and magnetic susceptibility measurement, dibasic ONNOrndonor behavior of the ligand and octahedral geometry for the brick-redrncolored complex have been concluded.rnKey Words : Ninhydrin, Ethylenediamine, Tetradentate, Schiff base,rnChelating Ligand, Ni(II) Complex,rnSynthesis, Characterization.
