From literature review it is possible to hypothesize that a method for the preconcentrationrnand isolation of niclosamide from indigenous plant materials using supported liquidrnmembrane (SLM) can be developed. Neutral molecules of niclosamide can be extractedrnfrom a flowing aqueous solution to a stagnant basic acceptor solution across a liquidrnmembrane. The efficiency of the extraction process depends on the pH values of donorrnand acceptor solutions, the flow rate and the carry-over (COE) effects when ordinaryrnSLM configuration is applied. Therefore the optimization of these factors was alsornsuggested. Comparison of simple transport and carrier-mediated mechanisms can bernmade; it is suggested that simple transport mechanism would be more effective. The usernof hollow fiber supported liquid membrane (HFSLM) mode of extraction is alsornsuggested for comparison purpose. The applicability of the method of extraction shouldrnbe investigated by spiking analyte sample solutions to the real sample. After developingrnand optimizing the method, application to the extraction and determination ofrnniclosamide from Hagenia abyssinica (koso), Glinus lotoides L. (meterre), Embeliarnschimperi vatue (enqoqo), and Cucurbita pepo L. (dubba) was suggested
