Co (II) and Zn (II) of Ruhemann`s Purple derived from ninhydrin and each ofrnL- Aspartic acid and L-Threonine were successfully synthesized. The two complexesrnwere distinctly colored and stable to atmospheric conditions. The complexes wererncharacterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance and magnetic susceptibility; asrnwell as infrared and electronic spectral studies. The Ruhemann`s Purple was shown tornbehave as a monobasic tridentate ONO donor.
