The nitridomolybdenum(VI) complexes MoI'TOI (OPPh^)prnand LMoUCl^j were synthesized from lioCl^CCH^CN)^,rn sodium azid, triphenylphosphine oxide and totrabutylaromoniumrnchloride respectively in acetonitrile. The reaction ofrnfioClr with sodium azide and triphenylphosphine oxidernalso gave i'ioNCl^ (OPPh^^j which is found to be anew wayrnof preparing nitridomolybdenum complexes. The nitridomolybdenumrncomplexes obtained were analytically pure.rnAttempts to synthesize nitridotungsten(VI) complexesrnby reaction of wCl^ with sodium azide in acetonitrile gavernimpure WNC1^(CH^ON)^ complex. Reaction of the recrystallizedrnand decomposition product of WNCl^(CHyOll)p withrntriphenylphosphine oxide in methylenechloride gave purernVfifCl^(0PPh^)2 in low yield. Similar reaction of ViWCl^(CH^CN)prnwith tetrabutylammonium chloride an.d 2,2'-dipyridyl inrnacetonitrile gave only impure products
