Design And Development Of Vehicle Identification System For The Ethiopian Road And Transport Authority

The existing manual vehicle identification system is slow, inaccurate andrnprovides little data about a vehicle. In this thesis work, fast, accurate andrnautomatic way of vehicle identification system is proposed. The work focusesrnon producing a prototype system in which each vehicle is to be tagged withrnunique electronic Identification (ID). Radio frequency identification (RFID)rnreader is used to extract the ID in the electronic plate of the vehicle.rnContactless, read only integrated circuit identification device, EM4102 hasrnbeen used to emulate the electronic plate of a vehicle while a reader builtrnusing the EM4095 (a CMOS integrated transceiver circuit) is used as RFIDrnreader.rnExperimental investigation was performed on the developed radio frequencyrnidentification system in the laboratory to check for the expected result. Thernexperimental result demonstrates that the reader reads the ID of the card atrnclose proximity confirming the functionality of the developed system withinrnthe read range of the used frequency.
