A cross sectional descriptive study was conducted in March 2015 among BlackrnLion Hospital young clients. The objective of the study was to identify factorsrnthat affect VCT services. Convenience sampling method was used to fill out 188rnself administered questionnaires of which 180 were retuned complete, makingrnthe respondent rate of 95.7%. Among the respondents, 96 (53.3%) were malesrnand 84(46.7%) were females. The mean age of the respondent was 16.25 andrnstandard deviation 0.821 of both sex mix, 114(63.3%) of the respondents hadrnsexual experience i.e. (31.1%) of the males and 32.2% of female. The majorityrn175 (97.2%) of them had heard about VCT services from different sources, butrnonly 106 (58.9%) of the client had undergone VCT. 62.8% of the young werernwilling to undergo VCT in the future. A theoretical construct with the intentionrnand willingness to undergo VCT was analyzed by asking client future plan tornuse VCT. Thus correlation analysis showed that willingness to VCT wasrnsignificantly associated with perceived susceptibility, perceived barrier &rnperceived benefit. Even if majority of youth had high level of knowledge, stillrnthey were engaged in risky sexual behavior. About half of (44.4%) youngâ€™s hadrnlow perception (didnâ€™t belief they are at risk of getting HIV) perception to wardrnacquiring HIV.Health institution and different media should advocate thernbenefits of VCT and HIV preventive message like VCT should emphasisrnpersonal susceptibility to HIV/AIDS. Other non health professionals, trainedrnVCT counselor should be involved in counseling to increase the acceptancernrate. Fear reduction of stigma and discrimination should be strengthened.rnInformation, education and communication programs should be establishedrnand emphasis should be put on reproductive health in order to encourage thernyoung to avoid unsafe sex.
