Family members play a major role in providing care-giving assistance to patients with mental illness and while providing care they may experience considerable amount of distress and poor quality of life, especially when they are not able to cope with the stress associated with the process of care giving. The study assessed the psychosocial experience and the coping strategies of caregivers of patients with mental illness in Amanuel Mental Specialized Hospital. Mixed study designs were used.
