This thesis is limited to the presentation of the single-server waiting line systems with Poissonrnarrivals and exponential service times. Waiting systems are stochastic mathematical models andrnthey represent the describing base of the waiting phenomena, service processes and appropriaternperformance measures. The objective here is to describe the state of waiting line phenomena atrnBole international airport and then improve its performance measurements. The data collectedrnfrom Ethiopian civil aviation authority is then analyzed using mathematical models of queuingrntheory to determine performance characteristics of the Airport under steady state. Finally,rnsolution results show that performance characteristics of Bole international Airport can bernimproved by either increasing the service rate or by adding new servers (runways) so that morernaircrafts can be served simultaneously.
