The availability of precise and exact flight data is crucial to effectively manage aircraftrnoperator’s billing, air transport business operations and also to ensure flight safety. This projectrnwork has aimed to design and implement systems that can efficiently manage flight journals,rnaircraft operators invoicing, and produce traffic Statistics and Forecasting for Ethiopian airrntransport industry.rnSystem requirements have been rigorously collected from Ethiopian Civil Aviation andrnEthiopian Airports Enterprises. Review of literatures and related works which are used in therntransport industry are also conducted. The design and implementation of the system is done inrnaccordance to the identified functional and non functional requirements. Object oriented softwarernengineering and ASP.NET 2.0 platform is employed to develop the system. The system isrndesigned in such a way to be accessible via the Internet. Users have access based on theirrnprivilege level. The system has different subsystems to meet its core functionalities. The Flightrnplan subsystem imports planned flights from Flight Plan database to the main database so as tornenable Air Traffic controllers to produce actual flight journals. The Flight Journal Managementrnsubsystem manages registration and preparation of different flight journals. The BillingrnManagement subsystem is in charge of processing different aircraft operator’s charges. Thisrnsubsystem also manages different invoice operations including sending the specified invoice tornthe customer via email. The System Utility Management subsystem manages user accountrnmanagement tasks and sets up different system parameters used by the system. The Statistics andrnReport subsystem generates different statistics and standard reports whereas the Forecastingrnsubsystem enables users to generate aircraft movement traffic forecasting using the designedrnforecasting model.rnThe system has been tested with seven years actual data and it has been observed that the systemrnsuccessfully meets the entire requirement identified. In addition, we evaluated our systemrnthrough a questionnaire which is prepared by considering the ISO 9241-11 usability test standardrnattributes.
