The main purpose of this study was to assess implementation of Adult non-formal basicrneducation supported by NGOs in Hadiya Zone. Based on this purpose, brief review ofrnrelated literature and experience of some countries were assessed. Descriptive surveyrnmethod was used for the study. Data were gathered from facilitators, educational andrnNGO officials / experts, community representatives and adult learners. Data wererncollected from respondents through questionnaire; focus group discussion andrnobservation checks. Sampling techniques employed for this study were purposive,rnrandom and availability sampling. Appropriate statistical tools, (percentage and mean)rnwere used in order to analyze quantitative data while narration was used to analyzernqualitative data.rnThe findings of the study revealed that though training was given to facilitators, therntraining given in relation to their duties and responsibility were insufficient. The studyrn(rnalso showed that the contribution of adult non-fo'"",Lal basic educatpVj in the project arearnwas found to be relatively good in addressing access and equity in the area. However, atrnthe regional and zonal level it was not satisfactorily expanded and gets attention.rnAccording to the findings, community participation was encouraging; the commitments ofrnthe educational officials and experts regarding supervision and support were at lowrnleveL Furthermore, shortage of syllabus, text books, facilitators guide and referencernmaterials, poor educational facilities, lack of facilitators' motivation were the mainrnproblems that affect the successful implementation of adult non-formal basic education.rnHence, it is suggested that facilitators should be trained with relevant training in relationrnto their duties and responsibilities. For the success of adult non-formal basic education,rnthe respective educational officials and experts, NGOs, and the community at largernslwuld accomplish their responsibility in organized manner
