The purpose of the study was to assess the practices and challenges of testrnconstruction and administration in selected secondary schools of KolfernKeranyo Sub city in Addis Ababa City Administration. Descriptive surveyrnresearch design was employed. Primary data was collected from onerngovernment and two private secondary schools. The participants were 85rnteachers and 80 first to third ranking students which were selected from thernabove mentioned schools using random and purposive sampling techniquesrnrespectively. To collect primary data, questionnaire with close ended and openrnended questions and interview guide were used. The major findings of thisrnstudy indicated that most of the teachers lack the awareness of testrnconstruction guidelines, and lack the skill to apply it practically and even hadrnconfusion about it. Teacher- made tests were not effectively prepared asrnobserved in the review. It was also found that the controlling mechanism ofrnproper construction of test is very weak. Finally, in relation to the assessment,rnthe possible recommendations were made
