Practices Of Extracurricular Activities In Addis Ababa University

The purpose of the study was to look through the practice of extracurricular activities in AA Urnand there by to come up with possible recommendations .In order to conduct the studyrndescriptive survey method was used. Purposive and random sampling techniques were used tornselect the data sources of the study. The study was conducted in five Faculties of AA U. i. e.rnlLS, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Medicine (Paulos Nursing Schoo!), Faculty of Technologyrn(South), and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (in Debrezeit) . The study include 242 3rd yearrnstudents who are club members and those who are not, 33 club leader students from all levelsrnof studies and 4 dean of students ' affairs offiCials from each campus. Both close-ended andrnopen-ended questionnaires and a semi-structured interview were instruments used for datarngathering. Numbers and percentages were the statistical tools used to analyze and interpretrnthe data obtained from the sample population. When the actual practices of extracurricularrnactivities of the AA U is seen in relation to what is expected, it was found below average. Thernperformance was inadequate and entangled by shortage of spare time, finance and material.rnAs a result it seems mandatory to give due attention and be considerate to the extracurricularrnactivities to serve as supplementary source of knowledge andformation of responsible citizen
