Assessment of Community based schools functions, the case of Gedeo zone,rnassesses and evaluates the community school activity program. The program hasrnbeen launched in Gedeo Zone since 1990 E.C. Since the program started 70 primaryrnschools are assisted by this program.rnThe objective of this assessment is the poor educational condition in Gedeo zonernand the intention of knowing how far the Community School Activity Program hasrnbeen implementedrnA research has been designed to collect adequate data on major areas of thernassessment: Working directly with the community schools and the education system,rnincreasing girl's participation in education, capacity building process, providing schoolrnimprovement money and sustainability.rnThe assessment process has been done by developing questionnaire; interviews,rndocument inspection and school observation instruments. On these processrnheadmasters, teachers, educational officials, experts and supervisors filledrnquestionnaires, School managing committee and pupils were interviewed, schoolrndocuments were inspected and the whole school condition was observed.rnThe organization of this study consists five chapters. Chapter one treats backgroundrnof the problem, statement of the problem, research questions, significance of thernstudy, delimitation of the study and operational definition of terms.rnChapter two deals with the review of the related literatures, chapter three withrnresearch design and methodology, chapter four with data analysis and interpretationrnand chapter five with summary, conclusions and recommendations
