The purpose of this study was to examine the extent to which parentrninvolvement in schools and the contribution of parent participation to thernoverall school affairs and how parent-teacher association shoulders schoolrnresponsibility in the school.rnThe research method that employed in the study was qualitativernmethod. The research design was identified as case study. The datarnprovide in-depth and detail through direct and careful description ofrnsituations) events and interaction.rnThe subjects of the study were thirteen) three teachers) threernparents) three students outof1622) two parent teacher association and tworndirectors identified from one purposefully selected primary school. Therntechnique utilized in the study was purposive sampling. Therefore) this hasrnchosen in order to purposely select and purposely leave some members.rnThe data was collected using interview) participant observationsrnand document analysis. The data drawn from interview) observation andrn. .rndocument analysis were studied carefully and repeatedly. Referring to thernnotebook and the Tape recorder cassettes did this. The researcher wasrncategorized the collected data in line with their similarities.rnThe study was conducted in the context of parent involvement in thernschool administration to enable democratic system of administration forrnfacilitating engagement of leamers) parents and community for sustainedrndialogue) decision-making around nationally oriented goals for basicrnleam-ing.rnParent-teacher association involvement in school administration wasrnfocused on their responsibilities devolved by the Ministry of EducatIOn.rnTheir responsibilities were leaders hip) encouraging parents to send theirrn..-- -rnchild) labor) control) planning) evaluation) involvement) parent teacherrn11rn•rnrelation, construction and maintenance, finance, discipline and parentrnencouragement.rnThe discussion of this study concentrated in examznIng the abovernmentioned responsibilities . The results show that the parent- teachersrnassociation's involvement in fund raising, in planning, in controllingrnfinance, and in encouraging parents to be involved in the school affairsrnand in exercising democratic leadership was high. But its participation inrnmaintaining school discipline, in supervision, controlling and sustenance ofrnteaching materials was inadequaternParent-teacher association has made an effort in enhancing schoolrnfinance. But the collected money was utilized for constructing buildings.rnTherefore, the school finance was in adequate to fulfill the school needs.rnDue to this the school has been in short of resources, which in tumrnhindered the teaching learning process.rnThus, to solve the problem of the school, parent teacher associationrnmembers have to strengthen relation with NGO's and enterprises found inrnthat area and to the community at large. Moreover, the parent teacherrnassociation should do the best to carry its responsibility in the school.
